Our projects are grouped into five strategic pillars, each addressing an aspect of diaspora development.
A platform where Indian tech companies collaborate with young Surinamese entrepreneurs to develop local solutions in e-commerce and fintech.
A knowledge transfer centre for modern Indian agricultural techniques for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), building on existing projects such as markoesa processing.
Regular virtual and physical trade fairs targeting sectors such as renewable energy (solar) and building materials.
A mentor network where successful professionals from the global Indian diaspora guide Surinamese youth in their careers and in applying for Indian scholarships (SPDC).
GIO requests a formal role as a local dialogue partner to link Surinamese expertise to India's development goals for 2047.
A training programme via CEIT (Center for Excellence in Information Technology) focused on artificial intelligence and cybersecurity for diaspora youth.
Establishment of a regional centre for Ayurveda and traditional medicine, with India providing expertise and Suriname serving as a hub for the Caribbean region.
A project to digitally unlock family histories and cultural heritage of the Hindustani diaspora, supported by Indian technology.
A joint project for a lasting monument or park in Paramaribo to commemorate 50 years of diplomatic relations (2026), funded through a Quick Impact Project (QIP).
GIO acts as a bridge for car dealers importing electric vehicles from India. Electric mobility can play a major role in Suriname's sustainable future.
Support in establishing and guiding responsible e-waste processing and/or recycling in Suriname. Potential development of a regional hub for Suriname, Guyana and other Caribbean nations.
Hosting an annual summit in Suriname for the regional diaspora — Guyana, Trinidad, French Guiana — to promote regional integration and trade with India.
